My dear friends,
Summer has been a particularly turbulent time this year. However, in the midst of turbulence in both the world and our church, there have been 2 remarkable achievements in our parish.
PARISH HALL APPEAL
On May 21st, we launched an appeal for $70,000 for retrofitting our Parish Hall. This was reported in the June Parish Magazine. At the launch Mr. Bob Eikel, the chairman of our Facilities Committee, pointed out that $70,000 was 40% of our annual pledged income, and he pleaded that our giving be over and above our pledging. Some people thought it would be a hard task. However, by the end of July we had found the amount! As well as personal gifts from parishioners - some most generous - we also had 2 generous gifts from outside the congregation, as well as successful fund-raisers.
